Title: “Using Leaf/Cactus Shapes” to Learn Watercolor Techniques with Ann Obernolte

This class is for the beginner and those with some water color experience.

If you have wanted to learn how to paint with watercolor, this is the class for you. We will learn how to create
depth, apply color and texture, as we layer and color in our paintings. You will come out of the class with a
frameable watercolor painting!

Student #: minimum 8, maximum 14 by November 1st.

The class will be held on Tuesday November 4th 12 to 3 pm, and Tuesday November 11, from 12 to 3:00.

Class cost: $75 (or $85.00 for club non-members) plus $30 for the optional material package. payable to Ann Obernolte by

Material List:

A material package that includes: 140 lb Arches watercolor paper, watercolor brushes, tape, and professional
watercolor paint is $30.00 per person. You will need to bring paper towels, optional apron, small spray bottle
and a water container. If you want the material package, you must purchase the package with your payment
so I can prepare the materials for you.

If you prefer to bring your own supplies, You will need to bring:

  • One, 30 x 22 full sheet of 140 lb Arches cold press watercolor paper (rough or regular) (We will fold
    and divide into 4 equal pieces)
  • Watercolor brushes, (I use Silver Black Velvet) You should bring a #6,7 or 8 round, and any other
    brushes you have.
  • Watercolor paint: I use professional paint, Winsor Newton and other brands.
    paynes gray (you need this one) Alizarin Crimson, Yellow Ocher, Burnt Sienna, French
    Ultramarine, New Gambage, Quin Gold, Sap Green, Van Dyke brown and any other colors you
    have.
  • Paper towels, paint pallet, water container, 1 “ masking tape or artist tape, pencils, kneaded eraser,
    exacto knife with blade. apron, small spray bottle for water.

Ann is an accomplished watercolorist with a degree in art education from the University of Minnesota. She is a
retired educator with her master’s degree in art and elementary education. She has taken many additional
classes from well known artists across the country. She lives in Trilogy with her husband, Al.
